Donny has been the Top Dog in our kennel-free/pack-environment boarding and day camp facility at Two Paws Up since 2016, managing a large pack of dogs on a daily basis, and also teaching our staff how to manage a pack of dogs.
He also has been our trainer for many years, working one-on-one with our customers, as well as people who are not a part of the Two Paws Up family. Donny specializes in minor behavior issues in the home (i.e., leash aggression, unruly behaviors in the home, helping integrate a new dog into an existing pack in the home, etc.) His vast knowledge and experience, calm-assertive personality, and oodles of compassion and empathy make him a very balanced and caring trainer! The dogs at camp absolutely respect and adore him.
Nick Martinez has been working with major behavior issues in dogs for 13 years now. He has recently rejoined the family business and is now part of the Two Paws Up team!
He has an incredible intuition when it comes to reading dog body language and picking up on small details that help him assess what is truly causing severe issues. He is not a typical trainer that utilizes treats or positive reinforcement techniques to communicate with dogs. His assessments can take several hours to complete, and his rehabilitation can take anywhere from one day to several months, depending on the depth and severity of your dog's particular issues. If you require his advanced skills, please contact us by email and put "NICK-MAJOR BEHAVIOR ISSUES" in the subject line. Give a brief description of your dog's issues, and a phone number to contact you.
What is the difference between behavior modification/resolution and obedience training? Unlike obedience training, the goal of behavioral training is not to get the dog to comply with a command. Instead, the focus is on rehabilitation or the rewiring of the dog's responses to certain conditions or stimuli.
All training services are catered to each family's needs and can vary depending on your situation. We offer Obedience Training, Puppy Obedience Training, as well as in-home consultations to address minor behavior issues++.
OBEDIENCE TRAINING Obedience training may just be the best gift you can give yourself, your family, and your pet. It teaches your dog appropriate social behavior with both people and animals; helps correct annoying behaviors like jumping, digging, barking, and chewing; and keeps your dog entertained and happy.
Obedience Training usually refers to the training of a dog and the term is most commonly used in that context. Basic Obedience Training makes an effort to teach the dog to reliably respond to basic Verbal Commands such as “Sit,” “Down,” “Come,” and “Stay”. It is also a great language to learn that your dog understands.
++BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION Behavior modification, also known as behavior rehabilitation or behavior resolution, is a treatment approach for changing the undesirable behaviors that your dog exhibits. Behavior modification can address a broad range of issues and is designed to meet the specific needs of each dog and household. Behavior modification addresses issues such as:
