Donny Douglass has been a dog lover since the day he was born. His family has always included animals in their lives. In 2011, Donny, his sister and co-owner of Two Paws Up, Lori, as well as his youngest nephew, Nick, moved to a 10-acre property in Valley Center and started a dog boarding and day camp facility called Doggy Hydeaway. Due to the home-like environment and the endless land with trails, rescue groups quickly found Doggy Hydeaway to be the perfect place for dogs they had in their rescues that needed to decompress, socialize with other dogs in a controlled environment, structured twice daily exercise, and a calm, quiet place to be. The daily exposure to so many dogs who had behavior issues and were deemed "unadoptable" gave Donny, Nick and Lori a level of experience that they never imagined.
In 2015, Nick chose to move to Orange County and start his own Behavior Rehabilitation business called State of Mind Dog Psychology. Donny and Lori had a huge opportunity presented to them by the previous owner of Two Paws Up, as she was looking to retire and felt we had the skills and temperament to take over her thriving business.
Fast forward 9 years, Donny has been the Top Dog in our kennel-free/pack-environment boarding and day camp facility at Two Paws Up since 2016, managing a large pack of dogs on a daily basis, and also teaching our staff how to manage a pack of dogs. He also has been our trainer for many years, providing customers with Obedience Training and helping with minor behavior issues++ in the home or out on leashed walks. His vast knowledge and experience, calm-assertive personality, and oodles of compassion and empathy make him a very balanced and caring trainer.
